Even Modi-Rahul combine can’t form govt, says KTR

- NARENDER PULLOOR | DC

TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi could not form a government at the centre even though they “come together” after the results of the Lok Sabha elections. The success graph of Mr Narendra Modi was falling sharply and the wave against the Congress was getting stronger, he said.

If the people of Telangana state “blessed” the TRS with 16 MPs, it would play a key role at the Centre and achieve national status for Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme, he assured. “We won’t urge the Centre for funds, we can demand for funds with 16 MPs,” he said in a meeting he addressed at Nizamsagar in Zaheerabad Lok Sabha constituency on Wednesday.

Mr Rama Rao said TRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao achieved statehood for Telangana with just two MPs. So, in a scenario where he had 16 MPs, the Centre would be run by the people of Telangana, Mr Rama Rao said. He alleged that both Congress and BJP had neglected development of the state and therefore, people lost confidence on these two parties.

The TRS working president said that Niti Ayog recommended `24,000 crore for Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi ignored Telangana state for the past five years. “There is no need to plead with the Centre for funds, if we have 16 MPs, we will demand funds,” he said.

Mr Rama Rao said that 40 villages in neighboring Maharashtra were willing to merge with Telangana state because of TRS government’s welfare schemes. The entire country was looking towards the newlyformed Telangana state for its vibrant development, he said and called upon the people to improve the voting percentage in Parliament elections.

Mr Rama Rao said the glory would be brought back to the Nizamsagar project as it would be developed as a tourist centre.

Minister for roads and buildings, transport and legislative affairs V. Prashanth Reddy and Zaheerabad MP B.B. Patil also addressed the gathering.
