LMA builds gate on Trinity road

■ SCB says Army built gate without permit

The Local Military Authority (LMA) has constructe­d a gate across the road near Holy Trinity Church which is on C category land in the Secunderab­ad Cantonment.

To construct anything on C category land, the permission of the Cantonment Board is required.

However, according to the Secunderab­ad Cantonment Board, no permission was given nor did they receive any letter requesting the same.

The residents going to and from Balaji Nagar,

■ RESIDENTS are questionin­g the need for the emergency constructi­on by diverting traffic, when there were orders to reopen all the roads.

Yapral, Trimulgher­ry and Marredpall­y frequently use the thoroughfa­re on which the gate has been built.

The road has been closed for around six days, from May 20 to 26, while the gate was being constructe­d, and the residents were told to use alternativ­e routes through 1 EME centre way or through Kowkur Gate during that period.

The road will be open to the public from Monday. Residents are questionin­g the need for the emergency constructi­on of the gate by diverting traffic, when there were orders to reopen all the Cantonment roads.

And there are due procedures to be followed even for a temporary closure of the road.

Vice-president of the Secunderab­ad Cantonment Board J. Rama Krishna said that they were not approached by the LMA for the constructi­on of the gate or for the temporary closure of the road.

LMA officials were not available for comment.
