- DC CORRESPONDENT

Following the directions of the Telangana High Court Rachakonda police, investigating the case of domestic harassment registered against an IPS probationer, is set to serve him a notice.

The court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of the probationer and directed the police to issue him a 41 A CrPC notice and record his statements.

On October 27, Jawaharnagar police registered a case against Kokkanti Venkata Maheshwara Reddy, a trainee IPS following a complaint from his wife Bridudula Bhavana, that she was harassed and beaten by her husband, who also abused her in the name of her caste.

On an earlier occasion, when she approached the police with the same complaint, police officials counselled the couple and Reddy’s parents also agreed to accept their relationship.

As Reddy is currently undergoing training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy, his parents promised to hold a reception on the completion of his training period.

However, Bhavana again approached the police. Subsequently, a case was registered against him under relevant sections of IPC and SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act at Jawaharnagar police station. The police said the statements of the woman and her family members were recorded. As part of their investigation, the police collected documents pertaining to the marriage. A letter was also addressed to the Director, National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie.
