A domestic dispute between a man and his wife on Monday led to the discovery of the body of an eight-year-old girl who had gone missing on Sunday. The girl had been raped.

Bhavanipuram police on Tuesday arrested T. Prakash for the rape and murder of the girl. Her body was found in his house in a gunny bag at Nallakunta on Monday.

AS PRAKASH could not get rid of the body without being seen, he stuffed it into a gunny bag and hid it beneath some household goods.

Prakash’s wife, Sunitha, discovered the gunny bag, which was hidden beneath a locker, when she bent to pick up the things she threw in anger earlier. The bag contained the body of the girl.

The girl had gone missing two days ago. Her parents had lodged a police complaint. A search ensued in which Prakash, who lives opposite the house of the missing girl, joined in.

Later, Prakash had an argument with his wife Sunitha who was suspicious that he was involved with another woman.

In her anger Sunitha threw household items around and when she bent to pick them up, she noticed the gunny bag beneath a locker.

The bag contained body of the girl.

Her screams of horror drew the neighbours to the house.

Upon seeing the the bag, they beat up Prakash and informed the police.

Police sources said that the girl had gone to Prakash’s house to see TV and saw her mother in a compromising position with him. While her mother ran off, Prakash caught the girl and raped her and killed her.

Bhavanipuram inspector D.K.N. Mohan Reddy said that the post-mortem of the girl was conducted on Tuesday and the body was handed over to her parents for the last rites.
