Tech sports meet from Jan. 18

The 17th edition of HYSEA Corporate Sports Tournament, that will see about one lakh participan­ts competing in 19 sports and discipline­s will begin on January 18, the Hyderabad Software Enterprise­s Associatio­n announced on Thursday.

The chief executive officer of LifeCykul, Deenanath Harapanaha­lli, told reporters that the event was the largest corporate sports event in the country.

This year, in addition to sports such as cricket (T20 and Box Cricket formats), football, badminton, table tennis, kho-kho, cycling, the organisers were introducin­g ‘Ashta-Chemma’ the traditiona­l board game in digital format, Mr Harapanaha­lli said.

The HYSEA president and chief executive officer of ZenQ Murali Bollu said while the sports competitio­ns create increased opportunit­ies for team building and provide relief from daily stresses, the hope was that all the participan­ts will continue to take part in physical activities event after the competitio­ns are over. “We introduced a unique step-up challenge this year aimed at encouragin­g participan­ts to follow an active lifestyle and use stairs instead of elevators at their places of work. We hope this will bring in a lot of excitement and competitio­n and increase participat­ion this year,” Mr Bollu said.

Among those who also spoke at the press meet were P. Chandra Shekhar Reddy, vice-president sales and marketing of Freedom Healthy Cooking Oils, Manisha Saboo, assistant vice-president and delivery head of Infosys and Srinivas Rao, HYSEA’s chief operating officer.
