All preparatio­ns are in place for the demolition of four high rise water front apartment buildings which were constructe­d in violation of Coastal Regulation Zone rules, at Maradu in Kochi on Saturday and Sunday.

Explosives have been planted in the skeletal concrete structures ahead of the demolition. Police, fire force and other agencies conducted a mock drill in the area.

The 19-floor H2O Holyfaith apartment complex with 90 flats, and the adjoining twin tower Alfa Serene complex with 73 flats would be demolished through controlled implosion on January 11 starting at 11 am. According to the plan, two controlled explosions with a gap of five minutes will bring down the two buildings.

The 17-floor Jain Coral Cove apartment complex with 122 flats would be razed at 11 am on January 12, the Golden Kayaloram with 40 flats and 17 floors would be demolished at 2 pm.
