Bajwa’s extension

Pakistan President Arif Alvi has approved all the amendments made to the Army Act, formally legalising the extension service to army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa (in pic). The new law covers all three military forces — Army, Navy and Air Force — of Pakistan. All three amendments have officially become law after the president’s signature. All phases of the Armed Forces legislatio­n have been completed now. The federal government will soon submit a report on the legislatio­n to the Supreme Court. After receiving green signal from National Assembly and Senate, the amendment bills pertaining to the extension in the tenure of services chiefs on Thursday was forwarded to President Arif Alvi for final approval.
