DEEPIKA’S ROLE

I fully agree that Deepika Padukone has shown an ingenious and novel way of promoting her film Chhapaak (Deepika shows the way, Jan. 9). I think other actors should follow suit. Whenever there is a controversy just before the release of their movie, they should visit such places so that they get wide publicity from pseudo liberals and media.

Deepika is a free individual and she has constitutionally provided rights to affiliate with any political group she wishes. However, her support to a particular student group at JNU raises a few questions. One wonders, did she ever bother to meet the grieving parents of Nirbhaya or Disha? Deepika Padukone should utilise her popularity to guide JNU students to concentrate on studies rather than agitate on non-academic issues. Padmini Raghavendra
