Petition against hanging at SC

New Delhi: An 88-yearold Kerala-based freedom fighter, S. Parameswaran Nampoothiri, has moved the Supreme Court seeking quashing of a provision in the Code of Criminal Procedure which provides for execution of death row convict by hanging him by the neck saying it a “colonial hangover” and violative of fundamental rights.
