Usually, the weight of the helmet begins to tell, especially when I drive for long distances. It makes me feel very hot and gives me neck pain. It also messes up my hair and stops me from wearing the caps/hats that I want to. So I don't prefer a helmet. — ANAND RANGA CHARYA

I humbly inform that of the 22 victims killed in road accidents in January, 12 motorcycle drivers died because they did not wear a helmet. Our analysis found that non-compliance with the helmet rule was the biggest of motorcycle fatalities.

— ANIL KUMAR, Addl. Comm, of Police (Traffic)

It is my choice and I choose not to wear a helmet. I understand that wearing a helmet saves lives, but do we get quality helmets in the market? The checks have gone too far. There are policemen standing in lanes and by-lanes, checking for helmets. — CH SATYA

Most of the fatal accidents are caused due to head injury as most people don't wear a helmet. Head is a sensitive part. People should understand that helmets are meant for their safety instead of seeing them as a burden. — UMESH SHIKANDE

It’s really important to protect the head so as to avoid major injuries when you fall from the bike. Wearing a helmet also makes one feel less exposed to pollution and prevents dust falling in my hair and on my face. — SHRAVAN PANJALA
