NO VIOLENCE ON V’DAY ACCEPTABLE

- GEETA VALABOJU | DC

Achyut Rao of Balala Hakula Sangam demanded reactionary forces be controlled on Valentine’s Day.

A male and female sitting in parks on Valentine’s Day are often made to tie the knot by communal and reactionary forces, without understanding the relationship between the two people or their age. “Such acts are condemnable because they sending a wrong a message to the future citizens that love is merely a physical relationship. This is a wrong concept and they are misguiding them,” said Mr Rao. He demanded strong and severe action against such reactionary forces who are not allowing people to sit in public parks and violating their rights with brutal force.

Madhavi who is pursuing her masters in psychology says, “As adults, we experience the commercialisation of Valentine’s Day as a day of great expectations, and just as often, great disappointments come our way when we meet outside.” Love doesn’t blossom only on the occasion of Valentine’s Day but every day when it exists. What happens in our personal lives and when we decide to marry is a private matter, but I don’t understand why such communal parties and other reactionary people should make a big mess out of it.

Nirupam Naidu who is a techie with Cognizant says, “Personal matters about marriage should be left to the people in the relationship, and our parents. Marriage cannot happen forcefully. Moreover, I also have a sister with whom I often go out but why should anybody interfere and behave disrespectfully?”
