KCR to fly today, gift Charminar replica

Chief Minister K. Chandrasek­har Rao who has been invited to dine with US President Donald Trump at Rashtrapat­i Bhavan will leave for Delhi on Tuesday morning on a special flight.

President Ram Nath Kovind is hosting a dinner on Tuesday evening in honour of Mr Trump, who arrived in India on Monday for a two-day visit.

According to sources in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Mr Rao will be carrying a representa­tion of the iconic Charminar as a memento to give Mr Trump.

He is also gifting the famous Pochampall­y and Gadwal silk sarees to US First Lady Melania

Trump and Ms Ivanka Trump, the President’s daughter.

In 2017, Ms Ivanka Trump had visited Hyderabad and received a grand welcome from the Telangana state government. Mr Rao had met with her then.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi may have a brief chat with all the Chief Ministers who have been invited to the dinner.

CMO officials said that if Mr Rao manages to have a word with the American President he may discuss bilateral issues. Hyderabad has the second largest number of IT companies and multinatio­nals in the country.

Mr Rao may also stay on in Delhi to meet Union ministers and discuss pending issues related to Telangana state.
