Pranavi powers Hyd to victory

Captain Pranavi Chandra and opening bat Chandra Smitha fashioned Hyderabad’s ninewicket win over Goa in their BCCI Under 19 Women’s oneday cricket match at Scindia School Cricket Ground in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, on Monday. Opening the Hyderabad attack, right-arm pacer Pranav put Goa under pressure with quick strikes as he returned with impressive figures of 9-028-3 which were instrument­al in the opposition being restricted to 110 for 8 in their allotted 50 overs. Ishita Koduri played second fiddle by taking 2 for 14 in her 10 overs, six of which were maiden. In reply, Smitha slammed an unbeaten 64 in 60 balls, 10 of which she smashed to the boundary as Hyderabad overhauled the target in just 22.1 overs for the loss of only one wicket. Brief scores: Goa 110/8 in 50 overs (Pranavi Chandra 3/28, Ishita Koduri 2/14) lost to Hyderabad 111/1 in 22.1 overs (Chandra Smitha 64 n.o, Thaniyath 28). Points: Hyderabad 4, Goa 0.
