but Covid-19 has made that impossible.

Modern technology came to their rescue and they performed the ceremony through online video, probably a first for Telangana state.

The schedule was carefully planned so that Shaikh Nabi and his family and relatives reached SR Function Hall in Khammam on Sunday night. Some of Adnan Khan’s relatives here in India also came to Khammam.

The marriage hall was decorated as if for an actual Nikah, delicious food was served to the guests who chatted as if at a real wedding except that the groom was several thousand miles away. At the auspicious time, the two parties connected online and the proceedings were recorded on a large screen in the hall. The bride and bridegroom appeared on the screen along with their respective parents. The parents of the bridegroom signed on the papers that the marriage is done and the bride’s parents did likewise.

Abdul Nabi, father of the bride said, “We had fixed everything and the bridegroom and his family members were to come to Khammam. The spreading of Covid-19 changed their plans but we decided not to stop the Nikah. The programme was done as per schedule and all formalities have been completed.”
