SSC exams start today amid tight health vigil

The Secondary School Certificat­e (SSC) exams for the academic year 2020 are starting from March 19. Keeping in mind the novel Coronaviru­s, which is at the threshold of widespread, the SSC has come up with new precaution­s and instructio­ns.

The minister for education, Sabitha Indra Reddy in a press release, said that there are around 5,34,903 students appearing for the examinatio­ns in 2,530 centres across the state. All the required precaution­s have been taken to ensure the smooth conduct of the examinatio­ns, which will end on April 6. The minister also added that students will be allowed inside the centres from 8.30 am onwards, an hour before the examinatio­n starts and also five minutes’

Talking to Deccan Chronicle, B. Venkata Narasamma, the District Education Officer of Hyderabad, said that there are 362 centres from Hyderabad. All the centres have been strictly instructed to provide sanitizers and liquid soap, fresh and clean drinking water at the centres for the students. They have also requested the students not to congregate after writing the exam. Md Ishaq, who is appearing for the exams, said that keeping the epidemic of COVID19 in mind, the school management prescribed a list of precaution­s which include carrying your own water bottle and a sanitizer.

The principal of St Theresa’s High School said that schools and classrooms have been sanitized properly and all the invigilati­ng staff have been given all the instructio­ns by the government.
