COPS ON GUARD TO TAKE ON CORONAVIRUS
Among the measures taken up by police to contain Covid-19 is supply of sanitizers and face masks to its personal, including those guarding the quarantine facilities, where the level of risk is high.
One of such facilities is Haritha Plaza in Vikarabad, which houses asymptomatic international travellers arriving in the city round-the-clock. Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Vikarabad superintendent of police M. Narayana said, “Sufficient police personnel have been deployed here in shifts for 24 hours. We are also taking proper precautions by providing them masks and sanitizers. We have asked constables and officers to avoid direct contact with asymptomatic international travellers. We want them to be vigilant about their own hygiene.”
Sanitisers and face masks are also being supplied within the areas of Hyderabad commissionerate. City police commissioner Anjani Kumar said they were providing protection to each and every visitor to the police station. They were also working together with the community to prevent the spread of corona. “Show your love for our city. Go out for essential works,” is the commissioner’s message.
Anjani Kumar asked people to avoid rallies in favour or against any issue. He said, “This is the time to fight the virus and not mobilise people for other causes. We request all leaders to cooperate, or else cases will be booked against them”.
Abids inspector K. Ravi Kumar said, “We have provided sanitizers to our receptionist, general duty head constable, station house officer and patrolling staff. Each and every petitioner or victim who visits the police station is first provided sanitizers to clean their hands.”
He said public are being educated that Covid-19 it is not an airborne disease and can be avoided by taking precautionary measures.
