Speed up works in Old City: KTR
Municipal administration and urban development minister K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday held a review meeting with city departments and instructed officials to speed-up ongoing developmental works in the Hyderabad parliamentary constituency.
He instructed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to speed-up works taken up under strategic road development plan (SRDP). Besides this, Mr Rao asked officials to expedite footover-bridges (FoBs), road widening works, junction improvement and beautification, water supply pipelines, development of sport complex, parks, public toilets, nala widening works and other infrastructure related projects.
Regarding road widening works, the MA&UD minister asked officials to coordinate with railway authorities and other departments to shift public utilities so as to complete works without any delay. He instructed them prepare proposals for laying a four-lane road on both sides of the Musi river under the east-west corridor project.
During the meeting, Mr Rao sought proposals for laying vacuum dewatering cement concrete (VDCC) roads and to fasten land acquisition process on 20 stretches meant for roadwidening, and to post a special officer for this purpose.
Mr Rao asked HMWS&SB officials to repair water leakages, and if necessary, replace the old pipelines with new ones to ensure better water supply. He told them to make sure there was no shortage of water supply in summer. He said that a sum of `200 crore was sanctioned for purpose of nala widening and to replace old sewerage pipelines.
