FOUR QUARANTINE­D IN FEVER HOSPITAL FOR CORONAVIRU­S

Four persons who had come in contact with the team of Indonesian preachers were taken for quarantine from Mallepally in the city on Thursday. The Habeebnaga­r police shifted the four persons to the Government Fever Hospital.

According to sources, these persons had been in contact with the Indonesian

Tabligi preachers in Karimnagar and are staying at a mosque in Mallepally. A total of seven members of the Indonesian team have tested positive for the novel coronaviru­s infection, as well as a policeman who was accompanyi­ng them.

The medical staff of the Nampally Government Hospital took the blood samples of these four persons. in 6,126 houses in areas surroundin­g the mosque.

Of those 25,000 people, 20 have a travel history and were told to remain indoors, and six others suffering from cold and cough were also told to confine themselves to their homes. Two persons who had direct contact with the Indonesian­s were urged to visit a hospital for screening.

Mr Kamalakar said people must not panic as the district administra­tion is on high alert, and hypochlori­de spraying will be done in the city along with spraying bleaching powder. The people sent for screening on Wednesday from Karimnagar to Hyderabad tested negative for the virus. Even so, they have been sent to Chelmada Ananda Rao Medical College for further screening.

There are around 90,000 households in the city and the screening process will continue until every one is tested, Mr Kamalakar said.
