Covid-19 has reached Pandemic proportions and prevention seems to be the best cure in the present circumstances.

In compliance with advisories issued by the Government of India, Telangana State and IHQ of Ministry of Defence, Military authorities in Secunderabad are taking various steps to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus disease and prevent its occurrence among the serving personnel and veteran community.

All places where crowding is likely to take place, like unitrun canteens, institutes and swimming pools have been closed. Attendance at ECHS (Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme) polyclinics is being regulated.

The veterans community has welcomed the efforts of the military authorities as the virus is said to affect the elderly more critically. Veterans have preferred to stay at home.

Adequate measures have been instituted at the Military Hospital level for treatment for personnel. Initial assessment at the Military Hospital and treatment at empanelled hospitals in the state for veterans has been put in place.

All actions are being taken by the military authorities in consonance with directories received from Union ministry of health and family welfare as well as the department of personnel and training. In addition, compliance of all instructions issued by the state government and the defence forces are being strictly enforced, the local military authority said.
