CLIMATE CHANGE GETS DOCTORS WORRIED

- DC CORRESPONDENT

The sudden dip in temperature and rain is worrying doctors that regular seasonal viruses will strike in the state, leading to a rise in cough and cold infections.

With the fear over

Covid-19 pervading, cases of common cold will heighten the scare rather than control it. The wind movement, rains and dip in the temperature will allow different viruses in the environment to activate. Seasonal changes allow viruses to flourish and these sudden and erratic changes may make the people anxious.

Dr Mustufa Afzal, senior infection specialist, explained, “Due to climatic change if people develop cough and cold they must not panic. It is due to the sudden change in the climate. These sudden changes have been noticed earlier. They must understand that until and unless they have come in contact with anyone who has travelled or returned from abroad they must not worry.”

The transmission of

Covid-19 happens only on contact basis, they pointed out.

Even in the case of normal cold, cough and flu caused by a change of weather, people must isolate and stay at home. Rest, sleep, eat healthy food, fruits and drink lots of water as it is very important that the body is hydrated.

Viruses are self-limiting and they will not attack badly if the human body does not exert itself.
