PIL QUESTIONS BUILDING NOD FOR SEEDS FIRM
A public interest litigation has been filed before the Telangana High Court seeking a direction to the state government to cancel the building permission accorded to Nuziveedu Seeds Ltd., for construction of twin towers in the Industrial Development Area (IDA) at Uppal on the ground that they were built in contraventon of the accorded sanctions.
The PIL stated that the company was building a 23-floor residential tower and a 13-floor commercial building in Plot
No.6 at Survey No.1 of the IDA. The PIL was filed by one K. Venkat Reddy, a resident of Laxma Reddy Nagar Colony, Uppal. He submitted that 36 acres of land located in the Uppal IDA was allotted to Parke Davis India Ltd., for
`1,33,200 to provide employment to locals. The company paid meagre salaries and gradually removed all workers, it claimed.
The land parcel is located on a prime locality facing the Warangal highway. It was converted from industrial to nonindustrial area, the PIL alleged. Several families were left in the lurch as Parke Davis had disowned its workers. It had instead built a residential complex and a commercial complex; the residential tower was being constructed without referring to the sanctioned plan. The PIL alleged that the TS Industrial and Infrastructure Corporation authorities colluded with NSL Builders.
The PIL listed the principal secretary, industries and commerce. TSIIC managing director, the Director General of Police, Disaster Management and Fire Services, and the managing director of Nuziveedu Seeds Ltd. as respondents.
