ARMY OFFICERS TOO TO WORK FROM HOME

Indian Army Chief Gen M.M. Naravane on Friday reviewed Army’s preparatio­n to contain

Covid-19 within its ranks and issued a slew of instructio­ns including reducing the strength of personnel working at headquarte­rs.

At Army Head-quarters, 35 per cent officers and 50 per cent JCOs and other ranks will work from home, adhering to home quarantine for one week from March 23. Next group will proceed on home quarantine on March 30. Intermixin­g of groups will be avoided.

In order to avoid crowding at entry and exit points, personnel attending office will adhere to staggered timings (0900 hours -1730 hours and 0945 hours1815 hours).

To prevent the spread of the virus, leaves of all Army personnel, who are already on leave, has been extended till April

15. The Indian Army has taken several measures to counter the growing threat of coronaviru­s in India. These measures come after a jawan of the Ladakh Scouts regiment tested positive in Leh earlier this week.

No army officers on foreign assignment or on leave will come back to country till April 15. Posting of all personnel has also been deferred.

All conference­s and seminars have been postponed till 15 April

2020. Service personnel attending courses which end before April 15, 2020, will be retained at the respective training institutio­n. Temporary duty of all ranks will be reschedule­d or cancelled till April 15, 2020.

Awareness campaigns will be run and precaution­s will be taken within the Army.
