IT sector must aid support staff: KTR Minister K.T. Rama Rao appealed to IT industry representatives to report to the government about employees who have come back from overseas trips. He said that IT employees should be vigilant about fake news.

Amidst the Covid-19 scare, representatives from global tech companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Cognizant, Google, and Cyberabad Security Council met IT minister K.T. Rama Rao at Pragathi Bhavan on Saturday, to discuss the way forward.
The industry representatives apprised the minister about how the IT & ITES industry is ensuring the safety and security of its employees while it continues to deliver the best to clients across the globe in trying circumstances.
They informed the minister of the various screening and sanitation measures being undertaken to ensure the safety and wellbeing of their employees.
Mr Rama Rao took the opportunity to dispel the worries and concerns of the IT sector and outlined the various measures that the Telangana state government is taking to contain the spread of the virus and expressed satisfaction at the various measures the IT industry captains are taking to ensure the well-being of the employees.
The minister said that the government will share situation reports with the industry, and they can make decisions based on these reports.
In an appeal to look out for the support staff at the companies, the minister said, “It is important to take care of departments like housekeeping, security, and unorganised sector staff. The industry should come together to help the unorganised support staff and ensure they don’t face financial difficulty.”
Mr Rama Rao appealed to industry representatives to take precautions and report to the government about employees who have come back from overseas trips. He said that IT employees should be vigilant about fake news and misinformation being spread on social media.
The IT industry representatives appreciated the Telangana government’s proactive approach in containing the spread of Corona virus and thanked the IT Minister for the constant support extended to the industry in the state.
