59, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday announced that the state has augmented its capability to handle
Covid-19 positive cases by increasing Intensive Care Units (ICU) and quarantine facilities in Hyderabad.
While addressing a press conference at Pragati Bhavan here, Mr Rao said that his government was “fully geared to meet any eventuality” arising out of the spread of coronavirus in the state. He declared that the State government has kept 1,400 beds prepared as part of an Intensive Care Unit readied at Gachibowli stadium to tackle any eventuality after the state touched a single-day high of 10 positive cases for the first time since the crisis began.
The Chief Minister said that Telangana has now augmented its capability to handle over 60,000 Covid positive cases simultaneously. Mr Rao disclosed that he had discussed the issue over phone with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday morning, in which Mr Modi had assured the state of all possible help. Explaining the steps taken for gearing up the official machinery to tackle any kind of eventuality, he said the State has prepared a finalised a pool of 11,000 healthcare professionals to be pressed into service.
Chief Minister, K. Chandrashekar Rao, on Friday, appealed to farmers not to come to the market yards across the state with their products and that the state government is making arrangements to procure their agricultural produce from their doorsteps.
While addressing a press conference at Pragathi Bhavan, Rao assured them of procuring all their produce at the minimum support price.
He said that if any of the traders wants to procure the produces, the state government will allow them on the condition that they should pay the MSP fixed by the government.
Rao said it was brought to his notice that some of the villagers have erected barricades barring the entry of outsiders into their villages across the state against the backdrop of the covid-19 threat.
He asked them to regulate entry instead of a complete ban as in the coming days, officials will visit their villages to procure the agriculture produce from the doorsteps in the villages.
He announced of supplying the water to standing crops under the current rabi season till April 10.
He said that there were crops in about 50 lakh acres across the state under the ayacuts of Sriram Sagar, Nagarjuna Sagar Jurala and Kaleshswaram projects and in fact they thought of stopping the water supply from March 31 but keeping in view the situation, it was decided to supply water till April 10 so that the crops at the tail end lands of the canals under projects get the water.
The chief minister asked the TRANSCO authorities to ensure 24hour power supply to the crops using bore wells till April 10 so that not even an acre of crop was destroyed.
