COVID PANDEMIC

-

The TRS government must appoint dedicated IPS officers like C.V. Anand as in charge of Civil Supplies department. Many people depend on government schemes. Though the government says the ration shops are the common man's choice, it is not the reality on the ground. Ration shop dealers in Nagole are forcing people to make many trips to their shops.

While it is intriguing to know how the 25 members of the Tablighi Jamaat who tested negative (Covid19), were shifted to Mallepally Badi Masjid, it is also sad to know that neither the district collectorate officials nor the Gandhi Hospital officials knew who gave the directions (In a first, Badi masjid turns into quarantine facility, DC, April 5). If this is how both the Central and state government officials work, where no one wants to take ownership or take decisions, then what will happen to the fate of our country's ordinary citizens?

The lighting of lamps on Sunday seemed like a government plan to divert attention from its failure to plan the lockdown. The shortage of medical equipment and breakdown of supply chain was not foreseen. The haphazard arrangement of ration to the people, food for the daily wagers and beggars exposed the government thoroughly. Even the problem of migrant labourers was not foreseen. We did not need the janata curfew or the lockdown if international travellers were monitored strictly. Even the Tablighi preachers entered India due to the inefficient government machinery. P.R.
