Education goes digital due to Covid-19 crisis
We are using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in evaluation, says Navin Mittal
NAVIN MITTAL, technical education commissioner, said that all colleges of higher education and technical education have adopted digitisation in November 2018
With several schools, universities and other educational institutions closed due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, digital is the way forward, said commissioner of technical education Navin Mittal. All colleges of higher education and technical education have adopted digitisation in November 2018, he said.
Speaking on the issue during a webinar on Wednesday, Mr Mittal said, “In the last few years, we have been working towards adopting digital technologies and market reform oriented processes in our education system. We have adopted many technologies in both higher education and administration. All our colleges are e-offices. All the colleges dealing with higher education and technical education adopted digitisation in November 2018.”
“All the answer sheets are digitized. We are evaluating all the copies online. All the teachers get random papers to evaluate. We don’t have physical evaluating camps. We have a huge data of students which will help us in future. We are using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in evaluation. We found that this is a very useful process and it has a very great future. In coming days, AI will be incorporated in our whole system. We are using online education in various universities. Adding to that, the department has developed online teaching methods for students along with five new online courses for the students to take up,” Mr Mittal added.
“We have also asked our faculties to use digital libraries. Many of them are trying new things in online teaching during the lockdown. We have also asked our faculties to use online teaching platform for students. We are using the technology for employment for our students also,” said Mr Mittal.
