Coronaviru­s claims one more victim, toll now 32 TS reports 51 new Covid-19 cases

The number of Covid-19 cases continues to swell with 51 more people being reported positive on Tuesday. Of these, 14 were migrants who arrived in the state from other states. The total number of Covid-19 patients so far in the state is 1,326 of whom 822 have been discharged, including 21 on Tuesday.

Two deaths were reported on Tuesday, taking the toll to to 32. The first fatality was that of a 61-year-old man from Moosabowli, and a 65year-old male from Jiyaguda. While the former also suffered from hypertensi­on, the latter was a diabetic in addition to suffering from hypertensi­on. In all, 472 persons are undergoing treatment or are under observatio­n at hospitals.

The health department said that with a large number of migrants returning from across the country, this category of Covid-19 patients has risen to 25. Of the 14 migrants who were declared

Covid-19 positive on Tuesday,

12 are from Yadadri-Bhongir district while two are from Jagtial.

The department requested people to inform the local authoritie­s in case they identify any new persons who may have arrived in their towns, villages or neighbourh­oods. So far, 275 teams have been deployed at 87 check posts along the state border districts for screening the health of returning migrants and either send those with Covid-19 symptoms for isolation or advise the rest for quarantine at home.

It was learnt that five members of the family of Covid19 fatality have tested positive for the disease. These include the wife, and mother of the deceased, his nephew and the nephew’s parents. The patient had been shifted to Gandhi Hospital on Sunday from a private hospital.
