Uttam dismisses Centre’s `20L crore relief package
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has described the `20 lakh crore relief package announced by the Centre as “totally disappointing and direction-less.”
Addressing Congress workers and leaders over Facebook Live, he said that the package had nothing for migrant workers, who were the worst-affected due to the lockdown, and for crores of youth who lost their jobs in the last 50 days. He said providing free food to migrant workers could not be counted as relief and the Centre should have announced a relief and rehabilitation package for them.
He said the package for MSMEs may not help the sector as it does not provide any support to them to carry out their activities while retaining their employees. “It is strange that private companies were being directed not to lay off staff and pay full salaries without providing them immediate financial support,” he said. Mr
Reddy said that countries like the USA, Britain and Canada had taken exemplary steps to protect their industries and employees and the Centre must emulated them.
Briefing Congress workers on the Pothireddypadu issue, he asked the Congress leaders and cadres to agitate against the TS government’s silence against the AP government’s move to illegally draw Krishna water and expose the underhand dealings between the AP and Telangana Chief Ministers. He said it was the moral responsibility of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to stop the expansion of Pothireddypadu programme at any cost.
