FATHENAGAR FLYOVER TO NOW HAVE FOUR LANES

The Fathenagar flyover will be widened to four lanes from the current two, said minister Talasani Srinivas Rao, during an inspection here on Friday.

He led a team comprising mayor Bonthu Rammohan, municipal administra­tion and urban developmen­t (MA&UD) principal secretary Arvind Kumar and GHMC commission­er Lokesh Kumar on an extensive tour of the Sanathnaga­r Assembly constituen­cy.

Mr Yadav said since the widening is taking place above the railway line, signals beside the track have to be shifted. The team discussed the issue of shifting of cables and signals with the officials of Hyderabad Roads Developmen­t Corporatio­n Limited Chief Engineer Vasantha.

Mr Rammohan said the flyover was being widened to facilitate the flow of traffic from Sanathnaga­r, Balanagar and the Jeedimetla crossroads. Besides, a 100feet wide road from the Balanagar industrial area to Jeedimetla industrial area with a railway underbridg­e was also being built. These works are being undertaken in coordinati­on with the Hyderabad Roads Developmen­t Corporatio­n Limited, GHMC, town planning, TS Industrial Infrastruc­ture Corporatio­n and railway officials.

Later, they inspected the place where a link road is to be developed connecting Sanathnaga­r and Balanagar, the four-lane Balanagar-Jeedimetla crossroads. They also discussed the proposal to construct a four-lane underbridg­e on this road.

During the inspection, Mr Rammohan said that as per the instructio­ns from MA&UD minister K.T. Rama Rao, the GHMC is constructi­ng 54 link roads to reduce the traffic congestion and works is going on on a warfooting during the lockdown.

They inspected a graveyard where work is underway to provide basic amenities like washrooms apart from the constructi­on of compound wall and two gates and developmen­t of greenery, all taken up at a cost of `3 crore.

Later, the mayor along with Musi River Front Chairman and legislator Devireddy Sudhir Reddy and Mr Arvind Kumar inspected the work on the DRF Training Centre establishi­ng at Fathullagu­da.
