Confession of 12-yr-old son solves murder case

- DURGA PRASAD SUNKU I DC

The confession of a scared 12-year-old helped the Osmania University police crack the case of murder of his father and nab the accused on Monday. It was earlier determined that the victim, autorickshaw driver Nagabushanam, 36, had died of natural causes and his body had been cremated.

It turned out that

Nagabushanam had been murdered by his wife Jayamari and her lover Raju in front of his son at their house. The duo threatened the 12-year-old against telling anyone of the murder.

According to the police, Nagabushanam was found dead at about 6.30 am on May 16. His wife informed the relatives that he had died of a heart attack. His relatives who came to pay their respects saw no evidence of external injuries on the body and believed his wife that Nagabushanam had died of natural causes.

The body was cremated at the Lalapet burial ground. However, some relatives of Nagabushanam did not believe the story and inquired his son about the death.

After repeated enquiries and assurance of safety, the boy revealed that his father was killed by Raju. He said Raju had smothered Nagabushanam with a pillow and Jayamari had helped him by holding down the victim’s legs.

After realising that Nagabushanam was murdered, his nephew Hari krishna lodged a complaint with the Osmania University police. The police booked a case of murder.

Investigation revealed that Raju had an illegal affair with Jayamari since the last six months. When Nagabushanam got to know about it, he quarrelled with his wife. Jayamari and Raju then hatched a plan to eliminate Nagabushanam to continue their relationship. They implemented their plan while he was sleeping.

Osmania University police took both the accused into custody and further investigation is underway. Raju is stated to be a thief and has been booked in several cases and has even spent time in jail.

The 12-year-old has been sent to the house of a relative.
