Ministers K.T. Rama Rao, Prashanth Reddy, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Malla Reddy and Mohammed Mahamood Ali on Wednesday held a review meeting on the status of the double bedroom dignity homes programme in Hyderabad and asked officials to expedite the progress of the work.
Addressing the high-level meeting, Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister Mr Rao said, “The Telangana Government will hand over 50,000 double bedroom dignity houses to the beneficiaries by coming August.” He added that the government will construct one lakh double bedroom dignity houses for the poor in Hyderabad city. Mr Rao mentioned that the work is progressing well and the houses will be ready to occupy by Dasara.
The working agencies informed the ministers that despite the lockdown, the construction work is going at a good pace, though there are a few problems pertaining to steel, cement, and sand. The minister said this problem will be solved soon. He told officials of MA&UD and Housing Departments to call for a special meeting with the working agencies to resolve their problems.
Mr Rao said 80 per cent of the construction work has been completed at various sites in the city, and some houses have already been handed over to the beneficiaries.
He told officials to provide power and water supply to the completed houses. “The completed houses should be handed over to the GHMC officials,” the minister said.
