ILLEGAL LIQUOR AT NEW CLUB, PLAINT FILED

- DURGA PRASAD SUNKU | DC

Allegations surfaced against the management over the illegal sale of liquor amid the lockdown at New Club, Secunderabad.

While an internal disciplinary committee is enquiring into the matter, reportedly management members are not responding promptly at all.

Modem Ramesh, a committee member, has lodged a complaint with the Secunderabad prohibition and excise police.

Club rules also stipulate that liquor can be sold through smart cards of permanent, temporary and life members.

Another member of the disciplinary committee, G.V.S. Ramaiah Naidu, told Deccan Chronicle, “After one of the club members raised the issue, we suspended the management members and issued show cause notices. Meanwhile, we have lodged a complaint at West Marredpally police station against the club manager demanding that he show the records.”

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, confirming that a complaint has been lodged, Secunderabad prohibition and excise inspector, Navaneetha, said, “We are investigating the case,” and declined comment on the allegations against the excise police.

Meanwhile, the management committee members have suspended the disciplinary committee members. One of the management members against whom allegations have been made, Srinivas Prasad, vice president of the club said, “The matter is being investigated by the excise police. If they find any irregularities, they will take further action."
