Ordinance issued for pvt varsities
The Telangana government on Wednesday issued an Ordinance No
1 paving the way for establishment of private universities in the state. The state government had already enacted the Telangana State Private Universities (Establishment and Regulation) Act,
2018 (Act NO.11 of
2018). According to Section
10 of the Act NO.11 of
2018, if the Government is satisfied that the Sponsoring Body has complied with the conditions of the Letter of Intent and on the specific recommendations of the Expert Committee, it can include the names of the private universities in the schedule with details of their location by amending the schedule.
According to sources in the education department, the expert committee which was constituted to examine the letters of intent and compliance report by the sponsoring bodies has already recommended establishment of private varsities in the state. The state government constituted the Cabinet Sub-Committee in April to examine all issues in connection with establishment of private universities as per the Act 2018.
The cabinet sub-committee has recommended the establishment of five universities and accordingly the state
government decided to include the following private universities as per Section 3 and 10 of the Act 2018.
Accordingly the government issued the Telangana State Private Universities (Establishment and Regulation) (Amendment) Ordinance, to include Mahindra University at Bahadurpally in Medchal-Malkajgiri district, Woxsen University in Sadasivapet, Mallareddy University in Maisammaguda, Dhulapally MedchalMalkajgiri district, S R University at Ananthasagar in Warangal district and Anurag University at Venkatapur in MedchalMalkajgiri district.
While notifying the Ordinance, the state government said that the Ordinance will come into force with immediate effect.
