WHAT’S GOING ON IN LADAKH, OWAISI ASKS MODI

- ATHER MOIN I DC

MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi asked whether Ladakh was becoming ‘Kargil’, a reference to the 1999 war with Pakistan. “China is continuing invading. Prime Minister should inform the nation what is happening to Ladakh. How much area was occupied by China there. Nation wants to know the facts,” he said.

Addressing a public meeting on online to mark Jummat-ulVida, the last Friday of Ramzan, Mr Owaisi said there were 170 Chinese transgressions across the Line of Actual Control (LAC), including 130 in Ladakh. “Why have transgressions by China increased? There is no answer from the government. The media is not questioning the government for its failure on this front. Nepal has also challenged our sovereignty by issuing a new map,” Mr Owaisi said.

He alleged that the `20 lakh crore package announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which was stated to amount to 10 per cent of the GDP, was only 0.75 per cent according to financial agencies.

He alleged that nothing had been done for guest workers who were returning home. “You are asking people to take loans. How can poor petty businessmen get loans, why is the money not credited in their bank accounts,” he asked.

He said a photograph showed a man eating a dead dog on the Delhi-Jaipur road. A teenaged girl cycled 1,200 km carrying her injured father, he noted. The Cycling Federation had offered to test her to select as a trainee. “This is insulting her poverty,” he said.

Mr Owaisi said the Telangana state government has sent one lakh workers to their native places spending `6 crore and asked the Prime Minister how much amount he had released for the same. He said the PM Cares Fund had received $1.27 billion but there is no transparency. “Prime Minister is distributing the fund to anyone as a king. Why should they not bring transparency,” he asked.
