State records 66 new Covid cases, reports 3 more deaths
There was a big spike in Coronavirus cases on Monday with the state recording 66 new cases. Three more deaths caused by Covid-19 were also reported during the day.
According to the state health department bulletin, 31 of the 66 cases reported during the day came from the Greater Hyderabad area. Eighteen foreign evacuees and 15 guest workers who returned to Telangana state were among the new
Covid-19 patients.One case was reported from Ranga Reddy district while another was listed by the state health department as an individual belonging to Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, in a mysterious sounding statement, the daily Covid-19 bulletin of the state health department said “of the 66 positive cases on Monday, 32 belong to Telangana.” It did not make it clear whether the 15 guest workers and 18 evacuees from other countries who either returned to different districts in the state or are under mandatory quarantine at hotels, “belonged” to Telangana state, or were people who belonged to other states but happened to be in the state at present.
With three more deaths reported on Monday, the total fatalities from Covid19 in the state increased to
56, the health department said. The surge in cases on Monday took the total
Covid-19 cases to 1,920 with 700 individuals still in hospital. The number of people discharged rose to 1,164 on Monday.
