Man rescues pal, drowns in lake

Hyderabad: A 24-year-old autorickshaw driver, Eerenti Vasu, 34, drowned in a lake while rescuing his friend at Devarayamjal in Petbasheerabad. Police said four friends — Vasu, Vikram Reddy, Shiva, and Kiran — went to Devarayamjal on Sunday, where they consumed alcohol. At around 4.30 pm, they went to the lake in the village. Kiran slipped and fell into the water. As Kiran did not know swimming, Vasu jumped in and pushed his friend to the shore but drowned in the process. Police fished out the body on Monday.
