VETERAN CONG LEADER PASSES AWAY AT 75
Rajendra Prasad Singh, veteran Congress leader and general secretary of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (Intuc), passed away at 75 at a hospital in Gurugram on Monday. Singh had begun his trade union career in the coal mines of Dhuri and th esteel workers’ union in Bokaro. He later served as president of the Rashtriya Colliery Mazdoor Union (RCMU) and of the Indian National Mineworkers Federation. In 2000, he was appointed general secretary of Intuc.
His political career began as a member of Congress in
1963. He represented the Bermo Assembly constituency multiple times, beginning in
1985. He also served as a minister in erstwhile Bihar and later in Jharkhand between
2014-19. Intuc president G. Sanjeeva Reddy expressed his condolences to Singh’s family.
