VICTIMS ATE FOOD LACED WITH SLEEPING PILLS

Sanjay Kumar Yadav who was arrested for killing nine persons, including six of a family of guest workers from West Bengal, on May 20 spent the entire night throwing the bodies inside the well.

According to Warangal commission­er of police V. Ravinder, Sanjay stuffed the victims, who were in a stupor after consuming sleeping pills-laced food, in gunny bags and dragged them to the well which is on the premises of another factory next door.

“When he had to lift them over the boundary wall, he chose a place where the wall is short. He started lifting the victims at 12.30 am and it went on till 5.30 am. He later took away some of their belongings including their mobile phones and the wallet of one of his victims, Shakeel. All these items were recovered from his house in Janpaka in Gorrekunta,” he said.

Nisha that Rafika had stayed at her home in West Bengal. When she came to know that Rafika was not at her home, Nisha started questionin­g Sanjay. She also threatened to approach the police. Sanjay then decided to kill the entire family.

Ravinder said that on the night of the nine murders, Sanjay went to the birthday party at the gunny bags manufactur­ing unit in Gorrekunta in Warangal Rural district. He took along with him sleeping tablets he purchased on May 18 and mixed them in the food being cooked in the kitchen. The nine persons who ate the food went into deep sleep. Sanjay threw them in the well where the bodies were recovered on Wednesday and Thursday.

“We collected scientific and technical evidence against the accused to prove that he committed this crime. Six teams were formed to crack the case and they were successful in doing so in 72 hours,” the police commission­er.

“We have CCTV footage regarding the movement of the accused from his home in Mills Colony to the scene of crime during the time it is estimated to have taken place. All the evidence in addition to the fact that the accused was close to the deceased family fit in. We will gather more evidence and file a chargeshee­t, Ravinder said.

He lauded DCP Venkata Lakshmi, Mamnoor ACP G. Shyam Sunder, inspectors Shiva Ramaiah, Pulala Kishan and others who were part of the investigat­ion.
