A new record of 499 new
Covid-19 cases was recorded in the state on Friday, 329 of them from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area and 129 in Ranga Reddy district. According to sources, three senior IPS officers in the Hyderabad city police division have tested positive.
Three deaths recorded taking the total to 198. Fifty-one patients were discharged taking the total number of discharged patients to 3,352.
In districts which were earlier recording only one or two cases, more were detected due to increased testing. There were six cases in Mahbubnagar, seven in Jangaon, four each in Medchal, Mancherial, Warangal Urban, Nalgonda and Nizamabad.
The highest death rate is noted in the age group of 51 to 60 years at 52 per cent. The state conducted
2,477 tests of which 1,978 were negative.
The government has stated that there are
10,970 isolation beds, 3,227 beds with oxygen support, 1,448 in the intensive care units 460 with ventilators were available.
Among those infected were eight workers in the entomology wing of the GHMC.
Seven of them were asymptomatic and were found to be positive during a random check. Shocked by the finding, the GHMC has tested another 256 workers.
A 40-year-old who was not attending duty since Monday as he had fever tested positive on Friday. The GHMC then conducted tests on all other employees and found seven positive. All of them were shifted to Gandhi Hospital for treatment. The results of the other workers is awaited.
