TSRTC STAFF TO GET FULL PAY FROM JUNE
SENIOR TSRTC officials said that the state government has assured that corporation employees would be given their full salaries from June.
HOWEVER, ANOTHER official, with knowledge of TSRTC’s finances, said the state government would invariably have to help the corporation financially if this were to happen.
Telangana state road transport corporation (TSRTC) employees will get their full salaries from June. Most of the corporation's employees have been getting just half of their regular salaries since March, since the lockdown first began.
On Tuesday, a statement from Chief Minister, K. Chandrashekar Rao’s, office said government employees and pensioners would be paid in full from June. It wasn’t explicitly mentioned if TSRTC would be treated similarly, leading to confusion among many employees. Senior TSRTC officials said that the state government has assured that corporation employees would be given their full salaries from June.
However, a senior official, with knowledge of TSRTC’s finances, said the state government would invariably have to help the corporation financially if this were to happen.
“We are netting less than 30 per cent of our normal daily revenue. Normally, we get around `13.5 crore to `14 crore a day. These days, even with inter-district and cargo services, we are lucky if we net more than `3 crore,” he said.
He added that occupancy in inter-district buses is extremely low due to a general fear in the public. The senior official said the corporation has sent in a proposal for funds to the government.
“TSRTC has a budgetary allocation of `1,000 crore. We have sent a proposal based on this budget. We hope to get it approved soon,” he said.
