PVP fails to turn up before police
Telugu film producer and YSR Congress leader Potluri Vara Prasad failed to present himself before the Banjara Hills police on Thursday as directed, leaving the police to seek legal opinion.
Mr Prasad was served with a notice on Wednesday asking him to appear on Thursday before the Banjara Hills police. He was questioned for more than 12 hours on Wednesday in a case relating to his trespassing into the home of his neighbour Vikram Kailash along with 20 of his henchmen and demolishing a temporary structure there, as well as allegations of use of force.
As it was getting late, the police served him the notice to appear the next day and let him go.
Banjara Hills additional inspector K Ravi Kumar said Mr Prasad didn’t appear and sought some time.
“We will take further action in accordance with the law after consulting with higher officials and taking legal opinion,” he said.
Based on a complaint from Mr Kailash, police had booked a case against Mr Prasad and his associates on the charges of trespass, causing damage, intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace, criminal intimidation, rioting and unlawful assembly.
According to the complainant, Mr Prasad lives right behind his villa at Prem Parvat. He alleged in his complaint that Mr Prasad has been creating obstacles for him to develop a roof garden at his residence, threatened him and asked him to drop the idea because the roof garden obstructs the view from his own residence.
