Woman, 65, faces threat from son, seeks DGP’s intervention

- JAYENDRA CHAITHANYA T. | DC

A 65-year-old woman, B. Ajantha, who is reportedly facing harassment and threat to her life from her only son B. Sudheer Reddy, has approached the Director-General of Police seeking justice.

Ajantha had to vacate her house in Jubilee Hills after facing severe threats from her son for not making a will duly transferring all properties to him. After the death of her husband, B. Punna Reddy, in 2016, she was subject to mental torture by her son, a US returnee.

Speaking to the media here on Monday, Ajantha said that she inherited huge properties on her name after her husband’s demise. Sudheer wanted the entire property to be registered on his name and also the cash that her husband left for her.

“When I did not give the money, he started harassing me. I was confined to a bedroom. My son brought a ferocious dog and threatened that he would order the animal to attack me. I lived like a servant in my own home. I hesitated initially to complain to the police keeping in view the honour of our family, but I could not live in the house. He also has about eight guns in the house but I do not know how he managed to get them,” she said.

She said that she gave a complaint to DGP M. Mahendar Reddy seeking justice and protection from her son and assured of intervention.

Ajantha said, “I have written a will donating all the properties registered on my name in Hyderabad to Ramakrishna Matt. I felt like taking my life as my son started threatening that he would get me killed by the people whom I like. He made my life miserable.”

Meanwhile, Aditya Reddy, grandson of Ajantha, refuted the allegations of Sudheer and his wife Sushma that Ajantha was harassing them.

Aditya Reddy wondered

“How can a 65-year-old lady harass a 47-year-old man who has a licensed weapon and a 40-year-old woman, or is it the other way round? If they are harassed, why didn't he leave the house when he has five other properties in the city? Why were they still working in the company if we were harassing them?”

It may be recalled that on July 16, Ajantha’s sonin-law V. Kota Reddy lodged a complaint against Sudheer, alleging that the latter took away some property documents and a .32 revolver with 20 live rounds.

Banjara Hills police registered a case and is investigating.
