Covid-19 cases rise rapidly in TS

One hundred and fifty days after the first

Covid-19 case was reported in Telangana on March 2 this year, the total number of Coronaviru­s cases has gone up to 60,717. The total number of people who have lost their lives after getting infected by the virus is 505, the Telangana government has said.

In its data released for

24 hours from 8 pm on Tuesday to 8 pm on Wednesday, the state health department said on Thursday that it recorded 1,811 new Covid19 cases. During the period, 13 more people lost their battle with the disease.

As has been the trend for past couple of weeks,

non-GHMC districts in the state are continuing to report an increasing

number of Coronaviru­s infections. Of 1,811 cases reported in the latest

bulletin, 521 are from within GHMC limits and the rest 1,290 from other parts of the state.

Government said the number of active cases is 15,640 of whom 10,155 are under home isolation across the state. Of the patients who have been hospitalis­ed, 2,188 are in various government hospitals, while

3,297 in private hospitals.

There has been a serious upsurge of cases in Ranga Reddy district with 289 fresh infections reported on Wednesday, whereas the number was 147 on Tuesday.

Medchal-Malkajgiri district accounted for

151 additional Covid-19 patients, followed by Warangal Urban 102, Karimnagar 97, Nalgonda 61, Nizamabad 44, Mahbubnaga­r 41, Mahbubabad 39, Suryapet 37, Sangareddy 33, and Rajana-Siricilla district 30.
