Amit Shah and BSY test positive, hospitalised
Supriyo who met Shah quarantined; Amitabh tests negative
Union home minister Amit Shah and Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa tested positive for Covid-19.
Shah was admitted to the Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon. He took to Twitter to inform people about his health and requested all those who came in contact with him to get themselves tested.
In a late night development, Yediyurappa said he had tested positive. In a post on his Twitter handle, Yediyurappa said he was fine but had been hospitalised on doctors’ advice.
Yediyurappa, 77, requested all those who had come in contact with him to be wary of Covid symptoms and self-isolate.
Shah, 55, is under Dr Sushil Kataria’s observation. Since Shah has comorbidities, he comes under the vulnerable category. He was on the list of invitees of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir bhoomi pujan on August 5, and may not be able to make it.
Shah was attending his office in the North Block, besides working from home. He had addressed a webinar at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts to mark the 100th death anniversary of Bal Gangadhar Tilak. About 50 people were present at the event. He was present at the last meeting of the Union Cabinet held on Wednesday.
Union minister Babul Supriyo, who met Shah recently, said: “I am advised by doctors to confine myself, away from my family members, for the next few days with a test to be done soon.”
Actor Amitabh Bachchan, who was being treated for Covid for 23 days at Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital, returned home after testing negative. His son Abhishek is still being treated at the hospital.
