Gudur: Mismatch in Covid figures

- DC CORRESPONDENT

TPCC treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy sees a dichotomy in the number of Covid-19 deaths being reported daily in the twin cities and the state government’s proposal to set up five new LPG-based crematoria in the twin cities in view of the rising number of Coronavirus cases in Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

“The Covid-19 death toll in Telangana, as being shown in daily official media bulletins, has never exceeded 15 on any given day. If these official figures are genuine, then, why is the state government making arrangements to cremate 60 more bodies in addition to the already existing crematoria? Are authorities expecting the situation to worsen further or are they hiding an already worsened condition from people,” he asked.

The Congress treasurer observed, “The government, which does not establish hospitals for common people to get treated, is building crematoria. Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao will be remembered in history as the leader who did nothing to save people’s lives, but made arrangements for their last rites,” he remarked. He underlined that the KCR government has wasted precious time in preventing Coronavirus from spreading.

Narayana Reddy said instead of finding means to tamper with data of Covid-19 cases and deaths, apart from exploring means for quick cremation of bodies, the state government should focus on strengthening health infrastructure and save as many lives as possible.
