OT crunch after closure of OGH heritage building 2,892 FRESH COVID-19 CASES IN TELANGANA
Operation theatres for general and orthopaedic surgeries in Osmania general hospital (OGH) are not available since the heritage building, which had three theatres, was closed down.
This is making it very difficult for OGH to admit these patients. With no alternative arrangement available in any of the existing OGH buildings, patients have to be referred to other government hospitals.
The Osmania Telangana junior doctors’ association has asked the director of health and medical education to look into the issue as they are forced to ask patients to go elsewhere as there are no operation theatres.
Patients in OGH come not only from all parts of Telangana but also Karnataka and Maharashtra. These patients are given the elective procedure dates in advance but due to the closure of the heritage building, it is now difficult for them as these two departments do not have a proper functioning place or operating facilities.
Junior doctors in general surgery state that their unit has stopped functioning as there is no place for them in the existing buildings.
They also pointed out how there was mixing of

Meanwhile, the demand amongst the senior and junior doctors is that the three existing operation theatres in the heritage building must be allowed
