There is no let-up in the spread of Covid-19 disease in Telangana with the state health department reporting 2,817 more infections and 19 more deaths in the state. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporatio­n area, the largest urban centre in the state, continued to see the highest number of daily cases. The GHMC areas recorded 452 more cases, which is one in every six cases reported on Wednesday is from GHMC limits.

There is no let-up in the spread of Covid-19 disease in Telangana with the state health department reporting

2,817 more infections and 19 more deaths in the state.

The latest additions for the

24-hour period between 8 pm Tuesday and 8 pm Wednesday, takes the number of deaths to

856 in the state while the total cases so far is at 1,33,406.

The Covid-19 bulletin on Thursday said that there are

32,537 active Covid-19 cases as on Wednesday evening. It said

2,611 persons have recovered taking the number of people who recovered to 1,00,013 so far.

Even as Covid-19 appeared to have a firm grip over Telangana, the greater Hyderabad municipal corporatio­n (GHMC) area, the largest urban centre in the state, continued to see the highest number of daily cases.

On Wednesday, the city of Hyderabad and other areas that fall under the GHMC limits, recorded 452 more cases, more than twice of the next highest number of new cases

216 in Ranga Reddy district. The other districts with a high number of daily cases were Karimnagar with 164, Khammam and Nalgonda with

157 each, Medchal-Malkajgiri with 129, Siddipet with 120, Suryapet with 116, Warangal urban with 114, and Nizamabad with 97.

The department said that of the 1,33,406 cases so far in the state, 41, 356 were found to be symptomati­c, with 92,050 asymptomat­ic. Males continue to be the major victims of the disease at 85,926 and 47,480 of

Covid-19 victims are women.
