- DC CORRESPONDENT

A round table conference of all parties and people’s organisations held here on Thursday resolved to launch another people’s movement for completion of pending irrigation projects on Krishna River in Telangana.

The conference was attended by leaders of Congress, BJP, Telugu Desam, Telangana Jana Samithi, Telangana Inti Party, CPI , CPM and Telangana Rastriya Lok Dal, apart from representatives of Telangana Vidyavanthula Vedika, Telangana Engineers Forum, Telangana Lecturers Forum, Fluorosis Vimochana Vedika, poets, writers, artists, journalists, and organisations of unemployed youth.

The conference was organised by the Telangana Journalist Forum on the topic Krishna River – Pending Projects.

Those who spoke at the conference included A. Revanth Reddy, Vamshichand Reddy, A. P. Jitender Reddy, G. Vivek , L. Ramana, Professor Kodandaram, Cheruku Sudhakar, retired engineers Shyamprasad Reddy and Laxminarayana, among others. They expressed concern that south Telangana will turn into a desert in the coming days if the state government failed in preventing the Andhra Pradesh government from diverting Krishna waters from the Srisailam Project.

The speakers accused the TRS government of being step motherly towards south Telangana. They charged that the state government is misleading people by stating that Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project will irrigate 40 lakh acres of land, when water will actually be supplied to only 10 lakh acres in the state.

The round table conference, presided over by Telangana Journalist Forum president Palle Ravikumar, resolved to launch a joint movement without reference to politics for completion of pending projects on Krishna River.
