AP GOVT TO BAN ONLINE GAMBLING

Andhra Pradesh government will ban online gambling by making necessary amendments to the AP Gambling Act of 1974.

The state government has also decided to extend the ban on Maoist Party and its frontal organisations by one year.

Briefing media after a meeting of the state cabinet here on Thursday, information and public relations minister Perni Venkataramaiah said the government has decided to ban online gambling due to the harm it was causing to people. Amendments will be carried out accordingly to the State Gaming Act, 1974.

Organisers of online gambling will get a jail term of one year along with a fine for the first offence. Jail term will go up to two years with fine for repeat offenders.
