PM gives success tips to 131 IPS probationers
One hundred and thirty one IPS probationers who graduated at the SVP National Police Academy here on Friday, were urged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to be good human beings that will help them become good officers.
The Prime Minister, who interacted via a videoconference with the probationers after the Dikshant Parade at the Academy, called on the young officers to “leverage the inherent strength of the society for achieving citizen friendly objectives.”The graduating batch comprised 121 officers from 71 RR (2018 batch) and 10 officers from the 70 RR (2017 batch). There were 28 are women probationers.
Union home minister Amit Shah exhorted the officers to serve with sincerity and integrity for fulfilling Prime Minister vision of SMART (strict and sensitive, modern and mobile, alert and accountable, reliable and responsible, techno-savvy and trained) policing.
In his inaugural address, Academy director Atul Karwal said that the nation has high expectations from the IPS probationers and expressed confidence that they will rise to the occasion each and every time.
The graduation parade was led by Best Probationer Kiran Shruti D.V.
During his interaction with the officers, Modi said he regularly interacts with young IPS officers who have passed out from the Academy, but this year due to the Coronavirus he was unable to meet them. “But I’m sure that during my tenure, I will surely meet you all at some point,” he added.
“Never lose the respect for your khaki uniform. The human face of the khaki uniform has been engraved in the public memory due to the good work done by police especially during this Covid19,” he said.
“Till now you were a trainee here in a protected environment. But the situation will change overnight, the moment you step out of the academy. The attitude towards you will change. Be conscious, first impression is the last impression. Wherever you are transferred your image will follow.”
The Prime Minister urged the probationers to develop a sense of belonging and pride in every station they are posted.
He urged them to be compassionate with others, adding that winning the hearts of the people through compassion rather than controlling them through fear will result in lasting impact.
